Shopping Carts
Whether you are
an individual or organization, you may have items you want to sell on your
website, accept donations or both. Thanks to the rise in e-commerce, it is now
easier than ever.
You've seen those online stores, the ones with
the "Buy Me" buttons and the little shopping carts. Of course, like everything
else, they don't come free. There are extra fees above and beyond what you will
pay your web designer. What are they?
Depending on the type of store you set up,
your pocketbook may be running for cover. Here is a breakdown of those extra
charges you can expect:
Ready-made Shopping Carts
The least expensive way to go is to use a ready-made shopping script that an
increasing number of service providers have made available free for their
clients' use. Usually there is a setup fee of between $50 and $100, and hosting
prices will vary between $40 and $125 a month. The service provider will also
charge a percentage for each transaction.
While the service provider provides the
shopping cart solution, you will need a merchant account to process the payment
so that the funds are deposited into your account. The merchant account will
also have fees. Paypal for example, offers a FREE merchant account, however,
you will still be charged a percentage for each transaction.
So, are you ready to make the commitment in
cost for a shopping cart to add to your website? At DesignTech, we'll help
you make the right decision.
Our setup fee is $60 per hour.
